Coffee And Goodbyes

THURSDAY MARCH 9, 2017

After breakfast, we attended an Italian coffee culture lecture. We learned about the different types of coffee and basically how Italians basically cannot function without it lol. I found it amusing how our teacher/tour guide Enzo told us about his experience having American Starbucks coffee for the first time and absolutely hated it because it taste nothing like Italian coffee. After the coffee lecture we had the rest of the day to do whatever we wanted, so of course we did more exploring. We shopped for souvenirs and ate lunch at a Chinese restaurant, to see if it would be similar to the Chinese restaurants in America, it was somewhat. I went back to the restaurant that had the Brochette D'Acqui wine I liked so much and purchased a bottle to bring home to America with me. After a long day we had our final farewell dinner with SAI staff at a restaurant named Obica near Campo dei Fiori.

FRIDAY MARCH 10, 2017

No one in the group was ready to leave Italy and return home. Everyone really enjoyed themselves throughout the entire duration of the trip. It was amusing watching everyone figure out how to fit all their stuff in their suitcases when packing. It was definitely a day that came way to soon. Thankfully, when at the airport nothing went wrong traveling home. Going through customs in Italy was definitely way easier than it is in America. We checked in smoothly and was sadly on the way back home in no time. On the bright side, on the first flight (the long flight) home I had a whole row of seats to myself. It definitely made up for the uncomfortable ride I had going to Italy at the beginning of the trip. The food on the flight was not that great but I watched some entertaining movies and got some good rest being stretched out across the row of seats. Once we landed in Philadelphia we found out our second flight was delayed, so we had to just wait it out in the airport. We got food at chipotle like typical Americans who did not just return from another country lol. When we eventually made it back to Virginia I was so tired from the jet lag I went straight to sleep as soon as I got home.
