Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost, But We Were!!!

SUNDAY MARCH 5, 2017

Random Drinking Fountain

Apparently, every Sunday there is an open flea market in the streets of Trastevere (the town we stayed in). You could buy practically anything at this market: clothes, toys, household furniture, DVDs, souvenirs, food, etc. You name it and you could probably find it there and maybe even bargain the price down a little. And, even though it rained for a short period, there were a lot of people out shopping at the market. After shopping at the flea market, we set out to do more exploring of the town. There were random cute little public water fountains that people would freely drink from throughout the town.

We had lunch at a pizza restaurant of which I cannot remember the name of, sorry! The majority of the menu was different types of pizzas. Progressively throughout the trip, I understood that pizza is a very common meal in Italy and every chef pretty much just uses their imagination when it comes to deciding toppings. I had a salmon and shrimp pizza, which was literally THE BEST PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE, no exaggeration.

Salmon & Shrimp Pizza

After lunch, we ended up in the area near Via del Corso, which is a major street in the historical center of Rome known for being absolutely straight in an area of narrow meandering alleys and small piazzas. We passed by street performers and saw a luxurious Ferrari. We went shopping at the Nike store, where I was so excited to buy a jersey with my favorite soccer player, Neymar Jr., on it!! I noticed how the Nike store in Rome only had athletic merchandise for soccer players as oppose to American Nike stores which cater to a number of different sports. When thinking about this I remembered the tour guide Fabio had informed us that soccer is a big deal in Italy and not so much for other sports, so it made sense. After shopping we got lost trying to make it back home to the bed and breakfast. I swear I have never done so much walking in my life!! It took us FOREVER to find our way back, but despite being lost the view of Vatican City at night was so worth the adventure and a great bonding experience for the group.
